Bollywood veteran Chunky Panday gave fans a delightful dose of nostalgia on Sunday as he shared throwback photos from the sets of the 1988 cult classic ‘Tezaab’. The actor took a trip down memory lane. He recalled his early days in the industry and the excitement of working with some of Hindi cinema’s biggest stars.
Posting on Instagram, Chunky described himself as a “24-year-old hungry gunda bacha,” full of energy and eager to make a mark in films. He shared a series of photos from the movie, captioning them, “I was a 24 years old, Hungry Gunda Bacha, when I shot Tezaab. Sharing some memories.”
Chunky Panday’s ‘Tezaab’ Effect and Star Power
In one, Chunky looks directly into the camera with a confident, young smile. Another captures him alongside Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor, and Kiran Kumar, all smiles on the ‘Tezaab’ set.
‘Tezaab’, directed, produced, and co-written by N. Chandra, was a major hit in 1988 and is considered a turning point in Bollywood. The movie propelled Madhuri Dixit to stardom almost overnight and reinforced Anil Kapoor’s reputation as a leading actor after the success of ‘Mr. India (1987).
Chunky Panday played Sushim “Baban” Choudhry, the loyal friend of Munna, Anil Kapoor’s character.
The nostalgia came at a special time for Chunky, who celebrated his 63rd birthday on September 26. Social media was full of heartfelt wishes for the actor. His wife, Bhavana Pandey, shared some beautiful throwbacks from their early days together, captioning one picture simply, ‘“Happy Birthday I love you @chunkypanday.”’ Daughter Ananya Panday also joined in to celebrate her father. She posted a touching childhood photo showing Chunky holding her younger sister while Bhavana Pandey stood beside them, beaming.
Sharing photos from inside Pashupatinath temple, he expressed his gratitude for being able to visit during the holy month of Shravan, which holds great importance in the Hindu calendar.
