Aamir Khan’s Family Denies Faissal Khan’s Allegations of Being Locked Up and Called ‘Mad’

Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s family has issued a public statement after his brother Faissal Khan once again accused them of mistreatment. The controversy reignited after Faissal, known for his role in the 2000 film Mela, claimed in an interview with Pinkvilla that his family labelled him “mad,” diagnosed him with schizophrenia, and kept him locked inside their home for a year.

Faissal Khan’s Claims Against the Khan Family

In the interview, the 59-year-old actor alleged that his family accused him of being mentally ill and dangerous to society.

“They were saying I have schizophrenia and I’m mad… that I could harm society. I kept thinking, how do I get out of this? It was like being trapped in a chakravyuh because the whole family was against me,” Faissal said.

He also claimed that he was prevented from contacting his father or interacting with society during that period.

Aamir Khan’s Family Issues Joint Statement

Following widespread media coverage, the Khan family — including Reena Datta, Junaid Khan, Ira Khan, Kiran Rao, Mansoor Khan, Imran Khan, and others — released a joint statement addressing Faissal’s claims.

They described his remarks as a “hurtful and misleading portrayal” of their mother Zeenat Tahir Husain, sister Nikhat Hegde, and Aamir Khan himself.

“Any decisions about Faissal’s care were made collectively, in consultation with medical professionals, and motivated by love, compassion, and the desire to support his emotional and psychological wellbeing,” the statement read.

Family Appeals for Sensitive Media Coverage

The Khans emphasised that they have refrained from publicly discussing this “painful and difficult period” and urged the media to avoid sensationalism.

Not the First Public Dispute

This is not the first time Faissal Khan has made such allegations against his family. The long-standing rift continues to attract public and media attention within Bollywood.
