Amaal Malik Says Dhurandhar’s Soundtrack Could Redefine Music in Hindi Cinema

Music composer Amaal Malik has praised the background music of the hit film Dhurandhar, calling it “simply insane” and one of the most impactful scores in recent Hindi cinema. Malik — who spoke in a recent interview — said the soundtrack’s power shows how a well-crafted score can elevate storytelling and emotional engagement in films.
While Malik admits he hasn’t yet seen the movie, he has listened to the entire score and praised composer Shashwat Sachdev as “one of the young whiz kids” of his generation, adding that Sachdev could be “the next AR Rahman.”
Highlighting the role of background scoring in cinema, Malik explained that music fundamentally shapes how scenes are perceived, with the right score adding layers of meaning and engagement. Dhurandhar reportedly features several standout songs along with 15–20 intense score sequences that have drawn both industry and audience acclaim.
Malik also noted that the film’s music resonates beyond traditional music lovers — sharing that even people not typically attuned to cinema soundtracks, like his own mother, have been impressed by the Dhurandhar score.
